A Typical Day at Camp Serendipity

9:00am     Check in and Order Lunch if needed
Camp Serendipity meets at the Central Community Center on Steelman Road across from Merrymead Farm

9:15am     First Writing Block         
Our writing day begins with warm ups, a lesson, exercises and a writing prompt.  
Campers create a variety of pieces with a focus on the writing process.

10:30am    Morning Recess        
Campers enjoy a variety of games, crafts and athletics indoors and out.
​ Our Camp Counselors supervise recess while our teachers meet with campers individually or in small groups.

11:00am    Second Writing Block        
During this block campers focus on work in progress and may be ready for peer sharing or editing.
Teachers present mentor text or incorporate writing games to help campers build their skills.

12:30pm    Lunch & Recess        
Campers enjoy lunch in the outdoor pavilion and have the remainder of the hour for recess and recreation.
This is generally free time but  special activities like the obstacle course, acting improvisation games or
percussion circles are offered periodically. 

We offer a daily lunch program that includes pizza and a fruit cup for $5 per day.
Campers may participate on a daily or weekly basis.

1:30pm     Third Writing Block        
This writing block may focus on a new writing skill or connections to our weekly theme.
Campers will also continue working through the writing process and developing their pieces.

2:30pm     Afternoon Recess        
Campers enjoy a variety of games, crafts and athletics indoors and out.
Our Camp Counselors supervise recess while our teachers meet with campers individually or in small groups.

3:00pm     Fourth Writing Block        
During our final writing block, campers focus on fine-tuning their writing and publishing finished pieces.
Our teachers meet with the campers to help them make the most of their writing.
